Over 33 years ago, I was a young, fairly clueless youth pastor at my first church. My pastor encouraged me to attend a Sonlife training seminar. The man who led it gave me hope that it could be done. He showed me that disciple-making cultures could exist in the local church and gave me practical tools to pursue that vision. At the end of the training, he thanked us and said it was his very first Sonlife seminar. I didn’t know it then, but the time I spent with him would shape the next three decades of my life and ministry. Over the years, I lost touch with that trainer, but I never lost the principles. God used them as I served as a youth pastor, senior pastor, and now in my role with The Navigators Church Ministry. In January 2026. I was attending the Disciple Makers Summit in Newnan, Georgia, when a speaker named Jim Halstead began sharing. As he spoke, details of his story sounded incredibly familiar—Sonlife, his church background—and suddenly I wondered, could this be that guy? After he finished speaking, I approached him and said, ” Yes. It was him! I was overwhelmed with emotion as I realized the man God used to give me hope at the very beginning of my ministry was standing right in front of me. Jim may never meet most of the people whose lives were impacted through his faithfulness, but I am one of them—and so are many others because of the ripple effect of disciple-making. Today, I have the privilege of investing in youth pastors, helping them build disciple-making cultures by applying principles I learned from Jim. I am deeply grateful for his life, his obedience, and the quiet, lasting legacy God has built through him.

A special thank you to Jim Halstead and for the tremendous impact he made at the “2026 Disciple Making Summit” at Crossroads Church in Newnan, Georgia. His time with us was both inspiring and deeply challenging in the best way. The powerful stories he shared, combined with his clear and compelling emphasis on the priority of evangelism and disciple making, stirred hearts and refocused attention on the Great Commission to every listener. You helped move evangelism from an abstract idea to a personal, practical calling. I know many left equipped and motivated to live out the daily disciple-making call in their lives. A truly a powerful communicator for any event a church may want to build around leadership, evangelism, and the priority of disciple-making.

The Go and Tell Evangelism Workshop was both deeply encouraging and highly practical for our church. Jim helped remove fear and replace it with a clear, Gospel centered confidence to share Christ in everyday conversations. Pastor Jim presented a wonderful way to present Jesus, especially to those with whom we can develop a relationship, but also to those we don’t know well at all, guided by the Spirit. He offered wonderful tools and processes, but no set formula. He encouraged all to know the process well, yet to assess the situation and, especially, to depend on guidance from the Holy Spirit. His teaching offers a non-confrontational way to sow seeds of truth, always certain that how it is received is in the Father’s hands. Jim left us cards and brochures for our outreach, as well as unfettered access to studies and small-group resources to further this ministry within our church body. I highly recommend inviting Jim for a weekend, as any church will benefit greatly from his teaching and resources.

I work with The Navigators in their church-focus branch, Navigator Church Ministries. I attended an evangelism training workshop at a small church just across the Indiana state line in Illinois. It was a great workshop. There was the vision for reaching those who don’t know Christ, a simple method for sharing the gospel verbally, and discussion about how to engage with pre-believers in relationships. The dynamics for this workshop were great with good discussion and personal application in break-out discussion parings. I recommend this workshop for evangelism training.

Thanks again for sharing your workshop with us earlier this month. Your passion for sharing the Gospel is evident. I was simultaneously convicted and encouraged. Convicted by how little I live into what I agree is an essential part of being a follower of Jesus, and encouraged by how naturally and straightforwardly you demonstrated what it looks like.

Go and Tell Ministries was a great training seminar for our church. One lady who attended stopped me the next week and said “The entire seminar was amazing, like every part.” She followed up with “And I never say that!”

What a timely voice Jim Halstead has been for our growing church family. We have been leaning into the heart of what it means to be the Church, and Jim’s clear and practical mission to equip the Church to share the Gospel and make disciples was just what we needed. With many thanks, Jim.

I appreciated Jim’s focus on prayer, navigating gospel conversations, and compassionate challenge to do relational evangelism. It was encouraging to see many church members attend the Saturday workshop and absorb the Sunday sermon. God will work through this weekend for the good of our church and the glory of Jesus Christ.

It was great to have Jim come and present the Evangelism Workshop on Saturday, and then preach on the Great Commission and discipleship on Sunday. I and others were blessed by Jim’s humble and personal example and teaching. Hey Jim, how are you? Some good news for you is that I have been helping a friend out, and way back before the conference, I was telling her about Jesus Christ. She wanted nothing to do with it, but just recently she wrote me a letter saying, ‘God, maybe, is what my family needs, and that’s all. Thanks to you, Timothy, for introducing her to Jesus Christ.’ I had prayed for this moment for a couple of years, and to see the work of God’s mighty hand at work in this family is Amazing, truly a blessing from heaven. We just had Jim speak at our National Conference. I would highly recommend Jim’ s ministry to anyone serious about evangelism and discipleship. His presentations were pragmatic and very applicable to today’s culture. You will love Jim’s down to earth manner, humor and spirit.

Having recently listened to Jim Halstead describe his experiences at a Conference in Canada, I’m honestly struck by the “organic” nature of this program. So many (sincere) attempts at Christian evangelism come across as formulaic, contrived, or even as mere “stunts”. By contrast, it was a privilege to hear Jim present a program that is as natural as it is prayerfully intentional.

The Go and Tell workshop was very inspiring. Asking questions is a great way to start a conversation about the gospel, and praying for those you want to share the gospel with is so important. I’m glad I was able to attend.

Over the weekend, I learned a lot that I can use to help communicate the Gospel message of Jesus Christ in ways that are not stressful to me or to the one I’m sharing it with. One truth that sticks with me is that I can’t talk to my friend about Jesus until I’ve talked to Jesus about my friend. Thank you, Jim!

We were blessed to partner with another church in our community to bring in Pastor Jim for the Evangelism Workshop. I was a bit nervous to see how our people would receive the teaching, but they not only engaged the teaching deeply, but want to continue the work through the Great Commission Study. I have read A Disciple’s Walk and absolutely loved it! As someone who interacts with others about Christ and the gospel, the stories were relatable, and the answers were perfect! My name is Abbie Dotson. I am 25 years old and am married since 04/22/2023. My relationship with God has been tough. Before I was adopted at 6 years of age I did not know who He was. I did not know that Jesus came to this earth to die not only for everyone’s sins, but mine too. So much happened in my past; I just struggled to trust that God was and still is there for me. I ran away at 18. I hurt my family, but most of all my relationship with God. I was so full of shame and regret for all the pain I caused that I tried to take my own life. In the early morning of 08/06/2020 I was driving from a second shift job. My mind would not stop racing. I was just so over everything I swerved off the road. I ended up stranded on the side of the road all alone. I look around and all I notice is the passenger side was destroyed and my side was not. I dove out of my car and tried calling for help by yelling, but no one was around. I was scared and felt alone. I sat on the grass and immediately I was embraced with peace and comfort. Though I could not necessarily make out a voice all I heard was “go home”. A really good friend of mine encouraged me to do the same. My family welcomed me back with open arms. I still struggle at times with my faith and my personal relationship with the Lord, but I am so thankful He saved my soul by sending His only son to die for my sins. I thoroughly enjoyed the Evangelism Workshop presented by Jim Halstead, an outstanding and riveting preacher.  I learned that Evangelism is Relational!  We need to converse with others and LISTEN to their stories. I have listed many more than 5 people for whom to pray daily and trust the Holy Spirit to guide me as I stumble along.  I recognize that I have not been proactive in Evangelism, and as I learn more, I trust I will become more and more comfortable with spreading the word of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.  I need a little more help, and I will attend the 14-week Sunday School Series. Jim is an exceptional communicator. This course reminded me of the need to pray regularly for the lost. I was also reminded that sharing the gospel is relational, meaning it is essential to understand where people are coming from, listen to what people are communicating verbally and nonverbally, and not just follow a prewritten script.

I invited Jim to come and encourage Mt. Olive Missionary Church in evangelism. He helped remove the fear of evangelism and showed us a helpful approach. I love his approach because it is simple and clear when communicating the gospel with unbelievers. I am glad we brought him to Mt. Olive!

I recently attended a GO and Tell Workshop. I enjoyed the workshop very much. I found it enjoyable and informative. I really enjoyed the statement Jim said “We talk about who we love”. I found this statement convicting as well. The other thing i found about this workshop is that we act like there is always time to witness and share the gospel when in reality we are not promised tomorrow. I would recommend this workshop to anyone.

Jim’s theology and materials are well thought through and practical. He teaches and inspires people through God’s Word and his real-life stories. Every church needs this workshop. Thank you, Jim.

I’m updating you on how my discipling others are going with your book, Disciples Making Disciples. Discipleship is moving forward with the young men at Youth for Christ. I’m seeing more and more interest in discipleship as the Lord leads me to others who are enthused about it. The movie “Forged” keeps coming up as I discuss discipling others. I watched it for the first time on Netflix with my wife last week. I thought, Oh man, this is precisely what we are trying to do. But we have Jim Halstead’s “Go & Tell Ministries” with all the great tools to equip us to disicple others. It is like a confirmation from the Lord. So much more, but for now, May God continue to bless what you are doing.

Hello Pastor Jim, Thank you for all the information you provided on November 9th when you taught the Go & Tell Evangelism workshop and the Disciples Making Disciples Workshop. I am starting to digest it. I testified at church about the impact of the Go & Tell Ministries on me from a slightly different perspective. I let Pastor Bob Sloma discuss the day’s events. Here is what I said to the congregation: “This (testimony) is a good one. In past weeks, I’ve discussed how massive the universe is and how God is the creator of everything. This week, I have a personal testimony that ranks as my 2nd most important one this year. Think about when you go to the doctor for your annual checkup. You have a few questions to discuss with the doctor, like “Is there anything I can do for my knee pain?” or “I have a cough.” Of course, the doctor has many questions about you, like “Are you fatigued?” or “Any more problems with your heart?” All of these questions cover your body’s health. But I found a way to check my soul’s health. It is relatively easy. You must trick your pastor into joining you on a round-trip drive to Augusta. Be sure to lock your doors. You don’t want him jumping out at a stop sign. During this drive, I asked Pastor Bob some questions that I found perplexing, such as the content of prayer and the ultimate reason for prayer. The answers opened my eyes to a bigger understanding of each issue. And, of course, Pastor Bob had a few questions for me. Some of my answers helped indicate the condition of my soul. Yes, I agree. I have sinned against some of the commandments and sinned against God. I have

We invited Go Tell Ministries for a Workshop on Saturday. It was really good stuff! Jim came back Sunday and spoke during our Sunday School hour and preached during our Worship Service. Every session was inspiring and empowering! I’m excited to see how God uses this event in the lives of our people going forward. I highly recommend it!

Our church was really blessed to have Jim come and share his evangelism training with us. Our people really enjoyed his conversational style and storytelling. Many came away with the tools and confidence that God can use each of us to build relationships and share the Gospel with our unsaved friends and family members. I believe this training has greatly raised the evangelistic temperature of our church! We also really appreciate how Jim makes his training available to small churches.

“Discipling, that’s not my thing. I’ll let others do that.” Through all that God has done for me, what have I done for Him? Jim’s Go & Tell Disciples Making Disciples workshop provided me with easy-to-follow materials to help me become a disciple. Jim has reminded me that I am to love God and my neighbor. If I do this, I will create relationships with others and, through these relationships, create disciples of Jesus.

As I listened to Jim teach during the Disciples Making Disciples workshop, I was reminded that as a follower of Jesus, it is my command to go forth and make Disciples of all nations. If I truly love Jesus as I believe I do, then the desire to share His love and salvation message should pour out of me. Jim’s books and workshop don’t CREATE Disciples; they affirm and enable Disciples to GO FORTH. Jim reminded me that I already do most of the steps required of a Disciple, now GO FORTH and complete Jesus ‘ command.
