Bible Reading Plans

HAVING A DAILY QUIET TIME IS A PHRASE USED TO denote the discipline of Bible reading and prayer with which Christians start or end their day. A quiet time is a set-aside part of each day for a meeting between a disciple and Jesus. It consists of reading a part of the Bible of the disciple’s own choosing and praying. Scripture reading in daily devotions can take the form of a simple reading of certain passages or I like to read through the whole Bible in a year.

Jesus invites us to come to Him and grow in our relationship with Him. When we desire to know Jesus intimately, we will spend time with Him.

The simple A,B, C’s of a Quiet Time are:

  • Ask God to instruct and teach you from His Word. “Open my eyes that I might see wonderful things out of your law.” Psalm 119:18
  • Bible reading daily. Have a plan! (Google to find a Bible Reading Plan for you.)
  • Communicate with God through prayer. (See the next chapter on Prayer for some helpful guidelines)
