Coffee Devo with Pastor Jim Halstead and Brandi from Riverside Markle Church highlights lessons from a Go & Tell Ministries evangelism workshop and the importance of being intentional when sharing the Gospel.
Brandi shares two important lessons she learned during the workshop. First, prayer must come before evangelism. We should pray intentionally for the people we hope to reach before we ever begin a Gospel conversation. When we pray, we recognize that the power to change hearts belongs to God and that His Word accomplishes His purposes.
The Bible reminds us that God’s Word does not return empty. When we faithfully share Scripture, we can trust God with the results.

The second lesson is just as important: be more interested than interesting.
When we talk with someone about faith, we don’t need to dominate the conversation or immediately try to explain everything we believe. Instead, we can listen. Ask questions. Discover what matters to the person in front of us. Learn about their experiences, concerns, hopes, and questions.
When we genuinely listen, the conversation can help reveal opportunities to share the truth and hope of Jesus in a way that speaks directly to that person’s situation.

Evangelism is not simply about having the right words. It is about prayer, relationships, listening, and being sensitive to God’s leading.
Before your next Gospel conversation, take time to pray. Then listen carefully. Be genuinely interested in the person God has placed in front of you, and trust Him to guide the conversation.
