Coffee Devo | Numbers 1–2

When we read the Old Testament, it can sometimes be easy to focus on the names, numbers, laws, journeys, and historical events without seeing the bigger picture. But Scripture tells one unfolding story of God’s plan of redemption, and that story ultimately points us to Jesus. Numbers 1–2 describes the organization of the people of Israel as they journey through the wilderness. While these details may seem far removed from the life and ministry of Jesus, they are part of the larger story of God’s work among His people and His plan of salvation. Everything points to Jesus.

Coffee Devo | Prayer: The Foundation of Evangelism

Coffee Devo with Pastor Jim Halstead and Pastor Peter from Living Gospel Church explores an important lesson from the Go & Tell Ministries evangelism workshop: if we are not praying for people, we are unlikely to share the Gospel with them. Pastor Peter shares what he learned during the evangelism workshop and how prayer changes the way we approach people who need to hear about Jesus. Evangelism begins long before we have a Gospel conversation. It can begin by simply bringing someone’s name before God and consistently praying for their salvation. Pastor Jim also emphasizes that evangelism is often a long-term mission. The people God has placed in our lives may need to be prayed for over many years. We may not immediately see the results of our prayers or know when someone will be ready to hear the Gospel, but we can remain faithful and continue praying. Prayer helps us develop a genuine burden for others. As we pray for our friends, family members, coworkers, neighbors, and communities, God can prepare both their hearts and ours for opportunities to share the Gospel. Evangelism is not about rushing someone into a decision. It is about faithfully following Jesus, building relationships, praying consistently, recognizing opportunities, and trusting God with the results. Who are you praying for?

Coffee Devo | Intentional Evangelism: Pray, Listen, and Share

Coffee Devo with Pastor Jim Halstead and Brandi from Riverside Markle Church highlights lessons from a Go & Tell Ministries evangelism workshop and the importance of being intentional when sharing the Gospel.Brandi shares two important lessons she learned during the workshop. First, prayer must come before evangelism. We should pray intentionally for the people we hope to reach before we ever begin a Gospel conversation. When we pray, we recognize that the power to change hearts belongs to God and that His Word accomplishes His purposes. The Bible reminds us that God’s Word does not return empty. When we faithfully share Scripture, we can trust God with the results. The second lesson is just as important: be more interested than interesting. When we talk with someone about faith, we don’t need to dominate the conversation or immediately try to explain everything we believe. Instead, we can listen. Ask questions. Discover what matters to the person in front of us. Learn about their experiences, concerns, hopes, and questions. When we genuinely listen, the conversation can help reveal opportunities to share the truth and hope of Jesus in a way that speaks directly to that person’s situation. Evangelism is not simply about having the right words. It is about prayer, relationships, listening, and being sensitive to God’s leading. Before your next Gospel conversation, take time to pray. Then listen carefully. Be genuinely interested in the person God has placed in front of you, and trust Him to guide the conversation. Who could you begin praying for today? And are you willing to listen before you speak?

Coffee Devo | Delight in God and Let His Light Shine | Exodus 34:29

Coffee Devo with Pastor Jim Halstead explores Exodus 34:29 and the powerful connection between spending time with God, being changed by His presence, and sharing the Gospel with others. When Moses came down from Mount Sinai after meeting with God, his face was radiant. Moses was not trying to make himself look different, his time in God’s presence had changed him, and others could see the evidence. Pastor Jim challenges us to consider whether the same is true in our own lives. Are you reading God’s Word? Are you delighting in God?

Coffee Devo | Obedience and Love: Lessons from Exodus

Jump into Exodus with Pastor Jim Halstead as he explores the lives of Moses and Aaron and the importance of obedience to God. Throughout Exodus, we see God’s people learning to trust His direction and follow His commands. Moses and Aaron were called to carry out God’s instructions, reminding us that following God requires faith, trust, and obedience—even when we may not fully understand what He is doing. But obedience is not simply about following rules. At the heart of God’s commands is a relationship of love.

Coffee Devo | Working Together to Share the Gospel and Make Disciples

Coffee Devo with Pastor Jim Halstead and Melinda Creek from Revive Indiana highlights the importance of Christian ministry partnership, unity, and working together to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and make disciples. Pastor Jim and Melinda have known and worked alongside one another for many years, and although they now serve in different ministries, they continue to work together for the same purpose: advancing God’s Kingdom and reaching people with the Gospel. Melinda shares a simple but powerful reminder: we are all part of one body working together for God’s Kingdom. Different ministries may have different names, leaders, and areas of focus, but we can still work together with a shared mission to reach people for Jesus.

Coffee Devo | Sharing the Gospel and Making Disciples at Indiana State University

Coffee Devo with Go & Tell Ministries features Pastor Jim Halstead speaking at the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) chapter meeting at Indiana State University. Before Pastor Jim shared his message, students gathered for a meaningful time of Christian worship. The worship service created an opportunity for students to come together, praise God, and prepare their hearts to hear His Word. Pastor Jim was grateful for the opportunity to spend time with the FCA chapter and share the message of Jesus. At the heart of the gathering was a simple but important mission: Go and share the Gospel. Make disciples.
